Botox or No-tox?

Today's 'Readers Comments' discussion group on the front page of the New York Times website, is "Nice Resume:Have you considered Botox?", and it asks readers if looking old is bad for their career.

But 'Have you considered Botox?' is the wrong question for job seekers. Too many older job seekers are never given the opportunity to even interview for a job, so how they look is irrelevant.

Instead, older job seekers need to inject their resumes with Botox. Your resume is what needs to be clean and energetic and forward looking. And your follow-up, after submitting your resume, also needs to be energetic, positive and reassuring to the HR manager. You don't need Botox to demonstrate your skills or your energetic commmitment to working for 10 or 15 more years. A powerful resume, sent to an employer that wants to hire experienced workers, together with a carefully thought out plan to follow up after you submit your resume, will greatly enhance your chances of success. You need a job, not a dermatologist.
